# Create a workspace tag

> Create and apply Workspace tags to organize audiences, campaigns, pixels, and other assets

A **Workspace tag** is a flexible label your team applies to **Assets** in a workspace. Tags are strictly organizational. Use them for team names, project codes, quarters, therapeutic areas, or any scheme that helps you find and group work. Tags do not change how **Campaigns** run or how data is collected.

There are no tag types and no branching in the create flow. You enter a name, optional description, and color.

**Admins** and **marketers** can create and apply **Workspace tags** in any workspace they can access. There is no separate permission for this feature. See [Permissions](/permissions).

## When to create a workspace tag

Create a **Workspace tag** when you want to:

* Group **Assets** by team, brand, quarter, or project
* Make tagged items easier to find on the [Workspace tags dashboard](/workspace-tags/dashboard) and on asset list tables
* Apply the same label across **Audiences**, **Campaigns**, **Pixels**, **Destinations**, **Reports**, and other **Assets**

When you set up or edit an **Asset**, use the **Tags** field to choose existing **Workspace tags** or create a new one in the dialog.

## How to start the create flow

### From the Workspace tags page

Click **New Tag** in the page header, or **Create your first tag** when the workspace has no tags yet. Both open the **Create Tag** dialog.

### From an asset builder or form

On flows that include a **Tags** field, click **Add Tag**. Search for an existing tag or create one from the footer:

* **Create Tag** when the search box is empty
* **Create "\[name]"** when you typed a name that does not match an existing tag

Both paths open the same **Create Tag** dialog. After you save, Wrango applies the new tag to the **Asset** you are working on.

## Where you can apply workspace tags

The **Tags** field (with **Add Tag** and the tag picker) appears in these flows:

**Audiences**

* Create audience (import and build flows)
* Edit audience details on the audience dashboard

**Campaigns**

* Create campaign
* Edit campaign details from the campaign detail page

**Pixels**

* Create pixel
* Edit pixel details from the pixel dashboard

**Destinations**

* Add or connect a destination seat

**Reports**

* Create campaign, website, or script lift reports from the reports dashboard
* Report details in the report builder

**Script lift reports**

* Script lift report details in the create script lift report flow

You can also manage tags centrally on the [Workspace tags dashboard](/workspace-tags/dashboard).

## Create Tag dialog

The create flow is a single **Create Tag** dialog.

Fields:

* **Tag name** (required)
* **Description (optional)**
* **Color** (required; Wrango selects the first swatch by default)

Actions:

* **Cancel** closes the dialog without saving.
* **Create tag** saves the new tag.

### Description (optional)

Add context so your team knows when to use the tag. Placeholder text is **What is this tag used for?** Helper text is **Help your team understand when to use this tag.**

### Color

Choose one of nine preset colors. The selected swatch shows a checkmark. Color helps teammates recognize the tag in lists, tables, and on **Assets**.

## Edit an existing tag

From the [Workspace tags dashboard](/workspace-tags/dashboard), select a tag and click **Edit tag**. The **Edit Tag** dialog uses the same fields as create. Click **Save changes** to update the tag.

The same name and similar-name rules apply when you edit.

## Apply workspace tags from an asset

On any **Tags** field:

1. Click **Add Tag**.
2. Search existing tags or type a new name.
3. Select one or more tags with the checkboxes, or create a new tag from the footer action.

Selected tags appear as removable chips below the control. The picker section header reads **Workspace Tags**.

When you create a tag from this picker, the dialog closes and Wrango adds the new tag to your selection for that **Asset**.

## After a successful create

**From an asset builder or form**

When you click **Create tag** while editing an **Asset**, the dialog closes and the new **Workspace tag** is selected on that **Asset**. Continue the flow you were in.

**From the Workspace tags page**

When you click **Create tag** from the page header or empty state, the dialog closes and the new tag appears in the workspace tag list. Open it in the list to review tagged **Assets** by tab.
